Ingredients
  

Making the Cake:

  • 1 ½ sticks  Butter unsalted
  • 1 ⅓ cups  Sugar (granulated)
  • 4 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 2 ½ cups  Flour (cake)
  • 6 large Egg whites
  • 1 cup  Whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon Salt

Whipped Cream & Strawberry Filling:

  • 2 tablespoon Water
  • ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Sugar (white)
  • ½ teaspoon Cream of tartar
  • 32 ounce Heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups  Strawberries (thinly sliced)
  • cup Sugar (granulated)
  • 1 cup  Strawberries (chopped) for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparing the Cake:

  • Grease a cake pan and preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine cake flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, blend egg whites, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add dry mix to wet, and beat until smooth. Mix in butter.
  • In a greased pan, pour the batter. Bake for about half an hour.
  • You can check the doneness with a toothpick. If it comes out clean, you can remove it.
  • Let the cake cool, then slice it into two equal layers.

Making the Cream Filling:

  • The heavy cream should be whipped until soft peaks form.
  • Add sugar, cream of tartar, and vanilla, and continue to whisk.

For the Strawberry Sauce:

  • In a small saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and water. Soften by heating.

Assembling the Cake:

  • Spread whipped cream between cake layers, and top with strawberry sauce.
  • Place the second layer, and add more cream and strawberries.
  • Garnish with extra strawberries. Your cake is ready to enjoy!

Notes

  • Ripe Strawberries: Use sweet, ripe strawberries for maximum flavor.
  • Whipped Cream: Whip cream till peaks form, add sugar if desired.
