Making the Cake:
- 1 ½ sticks Butter unsalted
- 1 ⅓ cups Sugar (granulated)
- 4 teaspoon Baking powder
- 2 ½ cups Flour (cake)
- 6 large Egg whites
- 1 cup Whole milk
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon Salt
Whipped Cream & Strawberry Filling:
- 2 tablespoon Water
- ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 cup Sugar (white)
- ½ teaspoon Cream of tartar
- 32 ounce Heavy whipping cream
- 2 cups Strawberries (thinly sliced)
- ⅓ cup Sugar (granulated)
- 1 cup Strawberries (chopped) for garnish
Preparing the Cake:
Grease a cake pan and preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Combine cake flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, blend egg whites, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Add dry mix to wet, and beat until smooth. Mix in butter.
In a greased pan, pour the batter. Bake for about half an hour.
You can check the doneness with a toothpick. If it comes out clean, you can remove it.
Let the cake cool, then slice it into two equal layers.
Making the Cream Filling:
The heavy cream should be whipped until soft peaks form.
Add sugar, cream of tartar, and vanilla, and continue to whisk.
For the Strawberry Sauce:
Assembling the Cake:
Spread whipped cream between cake layers, and top with strawberry sauce.
Place the second layer, and add more cream and strawberries.
Garnish with extra strawberries. Your cake is ready to enjoy!
- Ripe Strawberries: Use sweet, ripe strawberries for maximum flavor.
- Whipped Cream: Whip cream till peaks form, add sugar if desired.
